The weekend of 31 August – 1 September will be a busy one for Blue Matter team members Zeren Kocak, Linah Richer, Anwen Brown, Nafees Masri, Mariah Peixoto, and Magda Palczynska. They’ll be putting on their hiking shoes and taking part in this year’s South Coast Challenge to help raise money for cancer research.
The South Coast Challenge and Cancer Research UK
The South Coast Challenge provides an opportunity to fundraise for many different charities, but our team is raising funds for Cancer Research UK, a leading charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Their mission is to “bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”
At Blue Matter, our team works every day to help companies develop and commercialize new cancer therapies. So, it’s an important topic to us from a professional standpoint. But cancer is an important topic from a personal standpoint, too. We’ve all had family members or friends impacted by cancer and want to do whatever we can to help in the fight against this disease.
During the South Coast Challenge, participants will hike through some of the most iconic scenery on Britain’s south coast. They’ll travel along the South Downs Way, one of Britain’s National Trails. There are different distance options for the Challenge, but some of our team members have opted for the toughest option, 100 km (62 miles) in two days.
Raising Funds to Help Stop Cancer
When our 6 London-based hikers decided to participate in the South Coast Challenge, the Blue Matter leadership team pitched in to help, and the company contributed half of the fundraising minimum for our hikers. To raise the rest, our hiking team is turning to family, friends, and colleagues. If you’d like to make a donation or check on the team’s fundraising progress, please check here: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/blue-mates
Any donation would be greatly appreciated! We’ll provide more updates as the team gets ready for the big event.
