Blue Matter Academy
Never stop learning! Professional development and personal growth are key elements of our culture. Blue Matter Academy (BMA) is our in-house career enrichment team, focused on helping you proactively develop yourself and grow in your career.
Training is a part of what BMA does, but it actually goes far beyond that. BMA offers a holistic approach to development and career enrichment that includes:
- Goal Setting
Without a map, it can be hard to get where you want to go. Individuals have different development needs at different points in their careers. Each year, you’ll set goals to help guide your development activities and drive your growth.
- Career Coaching
Every consulting team member at Blue Matter has a Career Coach. Each Career Coach is an experienced person who can help you manage challenges, grow, and boost your capabilities. You and your Career Coach will meet on a regular cadence to discuss all aspects of your professional and career development.
Also, company leaders do not sit in an “ivory tower.” Team members have access to leadership across the company for informal and formal mentorship. There’s always someone who you can connect with to ask questions, test ideas, and get advice and support.
- Learning & Development
BMA’s learning and development programs are designed to “meet team members where they are,” using different types of content and modalities, based on the learner’s specific needs, goals, and preferences. Using learning science, instructional design principles, and an understanding of core consulting competencies, the BMA team designs and develops learning solutions that are relevant and can be applied in the day-to-day. BMA uses experiential learning via case studies and real-life situations to drive learning through the Learn > Practice > Apply approach.
Development Programs
BMA’s development programs span a broad continuum of capabilities that, when brought together, develop a highly capable and well-rounded consulting leader. Examples include:
Individual Development | Topics that help develop interpersonal skills, growth mindset, adaptability, and work / life balance |
Consulting Skills | Key consulting skills including analysis, critical thinking, insight development, strategic thinking, narrative development, and more |
Technical Skills | Skills enhancement in tools like Excel and PowerPoint, as well as more advanced technical training in specific areas |
Communication | Vitally important communications skills in verbal, written, and presentation settings |
Management | Key capabilities for managers, including delegation, providing direction and support, and developing team members through coaching and mentoring |
Leadership | Skills, behaviors, and best practices for leaders at all stages of their careers including executive presence, leading teams, and growing the business |
Role-Specific Training
BMA also uses a training curriculum that’s designed to follow each team member as he or she progresses. Acceleration is the foundation of this program, which is for new team members, while Leader Education and Development (LEAD) is for those who are advancing into senior leader positions.
