Presentation Abstract:
Discerning the Proper Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Strategic Decision Making
Decision Science (DS) seeks to help leaders make better, faster, and more effective decisions. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has entered the mix, as leaders and project teams have sought ways to leverage AI tools to support their decision-making processes. However, decision makers often deploy AI tools inappropriately, expecting them to do things for which they aren’t ideally suited or viewing them as a panacea. While AI tools can be highly useful, they must be properly integrated into a well-developed decision-making framework. This presentation does three key things. First, it outlines a scientifically-driven framework that leaders can use to effectively guide strategic decision making in biopharma. Second, it explores the potential benefits and pitfalls of using AI tools to help facilitate decision making. Finally, it provides some important guidelines to focus AI tools only on the aspects of decision making for which they are best suited, thereby delivering the best results.
We will provide more details regarding the panel discussion as soon as they are available.
