Situation
Ahead of a new product launch, a U.S. Medical Affairs home office team and Medical Science Liaison (MSL) field leaders wanted to reimagine the engagement process and strategy for the field team.
Action
Our team began by conducting research to determine how to maximize MSL potential. Via 1:1 discussions, we uncovered the limitations of the current SOP and the top areas needing improvement. We then worked with Legal to understand any compliance implications and created a draft proposal that MSL leaders finalized with Legal and MA leadership. Next, we created an MSL engagement strategy that included targets and messages aligned to launch priorities. Finally, we developed a system for rapid collection and dissemination of field insights. This included a clear process for MSLs to document insights in the existing CRM system, as well as standardized weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting procedures.
Results
The new SOP maximized the potential of the MSL team and innovatively applied the medical field team in support of the medical launch strategies. The feedback system allowed for rapid insights collection, creating nimble reactions throughout the launch.
