Situation
A Global Commercial Operations team of a large pharma company needed to ensure alignment of strategy and tactics across five different global functions.
Action
Our initial task was to define a framework for each function to define and share their vision, strategic priorities, and needs (the “Function Roadmap”). We then drafted a workshop approach to align on a Cross-Functional Strategy Roadmap for the next three years. Next, we helped the functional teams develop their individual Function Roadmaps. Via a workshop approach with commercial leaders, we refined the Function Roadmaps and aligned on an integrated Cross-Functional Strategy Roadmap. We socialized this cross-functional map with all the functional teams, then established tools and processes to deploy teams and track progress against plan.
Results
All functional teams acted in coordination to enact the strategic roadmap over a three year period, achieving all planned tactics while also adjusting for business priorities.
