Situation

A large global pharma company needed support in the full transformation of its global clinical operations team to deliver optimally on its R&D goals, its clinical operations strategy, and the company’s vision.

Action

We began by defining the desired future state for the organization. We worked with the client team to co-create the new vision, strategies, guiding principles, ideal state structure, headcount, and ways of working. We helped gain alignment from senior leadership and finalized the model. Next, we began planning for implementation and defining new ways of working. This involved creating job profiles, mapping current to future roles, and summarizing the impact on current roles. We defined a change plan and communication cascade and set up “ways of working squads” to define and plan for implementation. Finally, we helped to roll out the new model.

Results

Over a two-year period, the Clinical Operations function transformed its organization, its ways of working, and its team’s mindset to better enable it to deliver on the overall organizational vision.
