Situation
A global pharmaceutical company had ongoing large-scale organizational changes and needed a unified change management approach and framework to achieve comprehensive and sustainable change throughout all relevant initiatives.
Action
Our first goal was to understand best practices, pain points, gaps, and future needs in change management from global and local perspectives through 1:1 interviews and surveys. This enabled us to draft a preliminary design for a Change Management Center of Excellence (CoE) with three pillars: Tools & Methods, Change Management University, and Change Management Advisory. We finalized the design of the CoE based on feedback from the broader organization, then built all relevant content and processes within each of the three pillars, including a Change Management Handbook containing change journey guidance, templates and examples. In the final phases, we created a detailed communications plan and supported the rollout across the organization.
Results
The Change Management Center of Excellence codified a change management philosophy and framework, centralized internal thought leadership, and equipped teams with the tools to facilitate comprehensive and sustainable change throughout all projects that involve organizational change.
