Situation

An emerging biopharma company wanted to ensure that it had the right level of insight into the data, operational, and analytical investments that it would need to make prior to and after an upcoming product launch.

Action

Blue Matter began by diligently evaluating the client’s business needs. We identified and interviewed key stakeholders across functions to identify, assess, and summarize the business decisions that will be critical over the next 2-3 years. We then leveraged our expertise to map which data sources are available to help support those business decisions. We captured the completeness and precision of those data sources via a data matrix. This was a useful tool for judging which data sources to procure.

Next, we developed a commercial analytics roadmap for the company. Discussions with various stakeholders helped our team to understand the organization’s preferences and concerns with respect to analytics and data platforms. Given those preferences, we developed a road map that identified which systems needed to be onboarded and when.

Results

The project helped to identify short-term data and infrastructure needs for the client. Most importantly, the client received a detailed roadmap of the capabilities, data sources, and processes that it needed to onboard. Company leaders used this as a “living” reference document to prepare for a successful launch.
